Giving you the desirable steel-look, heritage or Art-Deco style with space saving are Aluco internal sliding doors. These stylish, functional and inline doors transform property interiors with their slim lines, elegant styling, clever features and functionality. In this guide to Aluco internal sliding doors, we tell you all you need to know about the product, where you can use them and the design options available.
What are Aluco sliding internal doors?
Part of the Aluco Interior Collection of steel-inspired doors and screens, Aluco internal sliding doors are designed to give you all the advantages of the steel-look internally, but in a sliding door design.
Hinged doors are of course, perfect for any doorway inside a home or light-commercial building, but they will always take up some space in the open position. Sliding doors work differently, sliding on a track at the top of the doors, meaning they slide either in front of a wall, or a glass side panel and they take up no space when opened.
How you can design Aluco internal sliding doors?
There are numerous ways to configure internal sliding doors. First are the single and double door designs.
You can also have other combinations with additional transoms.
Opening, Closing and Sliding options with sliding internal doors
When thinking about the design of your new internal sliding doors, there are three ways for these to slide open and where they park.
Sliding in front of a wall
Suspended from the top our Aluco internal sliding doors here replace an original set of hinged doors, obvious by the original threshold at the bottom.
Creating a more space-saving design, our doors are finished in a white matt colour, and fully opened, these slide and park in front of the existing wall.
Sliding into a wall pocket
Shown here in a stunning property are two sets of sliding internal doors, one fully closed and the other sliding into a wall pocket.
These doors are designed with you to ensure your new interior walls can comfortably accommodate the pocket sliding design.
Sliding in front of a side panel
Available with single doors or a pair of sliding internal doors as shown here, the doors can side behind a side panel.
The benefit of this design is a full glass screen with the doors closed, where normally there would be a wall. As a result, this design is ideal for larger doorways and where you envisage keeping your doors closed for longer.
The side panel with the doors open or closed lets in lots of natural daylight.

Every profile is professional coated only by certified and approved colour applicators, using colour powders from the best possible manufacturers and applied in a controlled, certified and quality-controlled environment.
Aluco sliding internal doors have the same premium colour finish as our exterior range of doors and windows, designed to be easy to clean, durable and withstand the vigours of everyday living.
The great features of Aluco sliding internal doors
We have cleverly designed our sliding doors to provide lots of great features and user comforts. First of all, is the fantastic soft-close facility. This ingenious piece of hardware is designed to stop the doors from slamming shut. An adjustable soft-close facility slowly closes the door against its frame. A hidden piston keeps the door open flush against the wall. To close the door, push against the piston and watch the door leaf retract and spring out, ready to close.
Next are the ultra-slim sightlines we’ve designed into our internal sliding doors, giving you the desired slim and sleek steel-inspired design. The outer frame is just 34mm wide, the transoms are available with 20mm or 37mm sightlines. The desirable and prominent feature backplate is 150mm wide and 122mm tall. There is also a deep bottom rail option giving a more heritage appearance. All these slim lines also create a seamless and streamlined design, with a one-piece track and cover at the head, with no unsightly joints.
Doors sizes are equally impressive. Single sliding doors go as small as 600mm wide up to a lovely and wide 1500mm. Combined with side panels you can fill door apertures up to 3500mm wide and 2300mm high with elegant and functional sliding doors.
For the sliding door hardware, we’ve engineered a desirable flush door pull into the feature backplate in a choice of antique brass or satin chrome.
Finally, are the glass options provided in single safety glass, toughened or laminated with a substantial choice of clear, patterned, traditional reeded or other designs.

Answers to frequently asked questions about sliding internal doors
We would love to help you create the perfect internal sliding doors for your property project, so do get in touch for personal, expert help and advice. Here are some answers to popular questions about our sliding doors.
Are internal sliding doors a good idea?
The advantage of an internal sliding door is its space saving capability whilst still delivering the desirable steel look. At the same time, sliding doors work better for larger apertures that may be too wide for a hinged door.
Do internal sliding doors need a bottom track?
A well designed internal sliding door should hang from the top, leaving the floor completely clear and step-free. Aluco internal sliding doors use a frame guide to keep the door in place, ensuring floors run uninterrupted. There is also no need to recess any track into the floor.
What are the disadvantages of an internal sliding door?
An internal sliding door offers all the advantages of hinged internal doors, with no obvious disadvantages . Because they slide, the handles are usually the flush mounted type rather than lever handles, but this is a styling feature rather than a disadvantage.
What is the most popular colour for internal doors?
Black and white are the most popular colours for internal doors as these work best with most styling and interior decors. Black in the steel-look gives the most authentic look of classic metal doors and is the preferred ‘industrial’ colour, however Aluco internal sliding doors come in any of 150 colours.
