How to choose the best glazing bars for Aluco Exterior Doors.
We have all manner of combinations of glazing bars for Aluco exterior doors available. Our glazing bars offer many design solutions depending on the sizes, design, and nature of your steel-look patio doors. Here are some ways to design your Aluco patio doors from our exemplary Exterior Collection.
Floating lock option with 20mm glazing bars
This design gives you the slimmest possible bar option when combined with the distinctive floating lock option on Aluco doors.
Typically these doors come in a three panel design with two horizontal 20mm bars one above, and one below the lock body.
Benefit: A contemporary lock backplate with the slimmest bars.
Floating lock option with 25mm bars
The contemporary floating lock, is unique to Aluco doors, with a slightly wider 25mm glazing bar.
Suitable for doors in a three panel design typically as they create the most balanced styling.
Benefit: The contemporary lock backplate, unique to Aluco with a slightly more prominent-sized bar.
42mm glazing bars for Aluco exterior doors
The 42mm transom/glazing bar provides a bolder style and is positioned above and below the lock backplate.
You can create a five-module door as indicated with slimmer or similar-size transoms. This picture shows the 42mm bar with 25mm bars above and below.
Benefit: Bolder and more prominent door style.
Standard lock and handle backplate with 20mm glazing bars.
Our standard backplate is also available with the same slim 20mm glazing bars.
The backplate is slightly narrower than the floating option and has a picture-frame detail around the perimeter.
Benefit: The most authentic style replicating old steel doors with 19mm glazing bars.
Aluco full-height door with 25mm glazing bars
Our full-height lock and handle backplate option is another unique feature of Aluco doors, giving a more contemporary styling.
This design works very well as a four module door with three bars or can be done with a single bar or just two.
Benefit: When you want the steel look in a more modern style, and equal glass sizes without the steel-inspired backplate.
42mm glazing bars on Aluco Exterior doors
Our larger glazing bar/transom perfect for exterior doors with side panels or as standalone single or French Doors.
This size of glazing bar uses our standard lock and handle backplate, similar to old steel doors.
Benefit: Allows completely equal sightlines, especially when used with side panels or fixed windows.
Giving you the perfect steel-look for your patio doors
Our glazing bars for Aluco exterior doors are available with single doors as well as double doors and can also work in fixed windows, side panels and combination screens such as corner designs.
Every one of our glazing bar designs provides the authentic steel-look but gives you options in the style of door you want. Perhaps you want the more discreet grid-like pattern, in which case the 20mm or the 25mm options work best. When you want a prominent design, the 42mm options work best because of their larger profile creates a very strong look, especially in the popular black colour.
Even better, our designs work not just with horizontal bar options but also where you have vertical bars running through your doors giving a multi-panel style.
