Following the successful installation of Aluco industrial-style commercial steel-look doors at a refurbished estate office in Lushill, Wiltshire, another installation of steel-look glazing within farm buildings, office space and business units into a striking, light-filled and beautifully balanced space. Located near Cirencester Gloucestershire, Calmsden Farm Estate runs herds of pedigree Holstein cows. Additionally, Calmsden Fram grows Combinable crops. In recent years, the farm also has several hectares of vineyards, producing wine. The estate includes a main farmhouse with a range of other buildings and ancillary spaces. Our manufacturing of commercial steel-look doors installed by L & L Installations is for the buildings now repurposed as offices, business units and workshops that were formerly part of the farm itself. And all of these overlook the gorgeous Gloucestershire countryside.
In addition to the farm estate buildings, the glazing forms an important visual element. Tall, symmetrical glazed screens with double doors provide a clean, industrial steel-look design that complements the stonework of the original building.
The aim was to maintain a consistent visual identity while maximising light and enhancing the building’s usability. Every new element was fabricated using the same high-performance aluminium profiles and carefully matched to the original colour and detailing.
For this installation, we manufactured more glazed screens with double doors, single doors with side panels, and additional glazed full-height screens for the retail units. Notably, the styling has to be exact. That is why the doors come with ultra-slim glazing bars with everything lining through. Sightlines are consistent, and the overall glazed screen looks balanced and symmetrical.
New Glazed Screens and Casement Windows
Once again, we worked with expert trade partner L and L Installations of Tewkesbury, one of our most experienced installation partners and highly reputable glazing businesses.
The new glazed screens work beautifully within the wood cladding, with transoms and horizontal divisions to continue the industrial grid pattern seen in the main entrance doors. Every product comes powder coated in a contemporary grey matt finish and glazed with 28mm safety glass units, providing excellent thermal performance and year-round comfort.
Commercial Steel-Look Doors. Attention to Detail and Performance
All Aluco Exterior Collection products used in the project feature our premium-grade aluminium, insulated with deep polyamide thermal breaks. The glass used throughout is high-specification, toughened safety glass, having a soft-coat low-emissivity coating, warm edge spacer bars and argon gas fill. The doors and fixed elements are all glazed from the inside for additional security.
For the hardware, all commercial steel-look doors come with a latest generation five-point locking system, and secure mechanical fixings ensure that the products not only look outstanding but also meet modern performance and security expectations. Inset casement windows within the screens provide ventilation without having to keep the doors open. These, too, comprise multipoint espagnolette locks with colour-matched key-locking handles.
Hardware across the installation is finished in black to tie in with the architectural style. The French doors feature matching black backplates and slimline hinges, while the windows use traditional-style handles to suit the period property feel.
A Unified Architectural Statement
Together, the glazing elements and architecture of these farm buildings form a cohesive design that elevates the new workspaces and workshops into something special. Internally, the space is now bright, open and full of natural light. Externally, the combination of slim sightlines, strong vertical and horizontal lines, and understated colour tones results in a building that feels both updated and timeless.
